Julia was absolutely thrilled that her friend, Miss Virginia, is Miss America's Outstanding Teen 2007!! Julia had a great time. Her foot has healed up quite well, and she even danced several dances at the after party. Julia's parents and brother had a great time, and reported that this year everything was very organized in Orlando.

New Hampshire is very proud of Julia!!!

Janine Mitchell was awarded the second place scholarship for successfully launching her mentor club this past year. Miss America, Lauren Nelson, presented the award on stage tonight during the finals. Congratulations Janine!

Julia performed her talent this evening despite the ongoing problem with her foot. She did a wonderful job. And, she competed in evening-wear as well and looked absolutely stunning. She was very excited to see so many people from NH when she arrived for the visitation.

Update on Julia: Julia is upbeat and positive despite a setback with a cut on her foot. The on-duty MAOTeen nurse attended to the problem last night and again today. The MAOTeen Committee has agreed to move Julia’s talent performance to Thursday night’s preliminary competition. She had been scheduled for talent tonight. Miss NH Board member Jennifer Blanchard was on hand with Julia’s parents at the meeting with the MAOTeen officials. With the move Julia will not be eligible to win a preliminary talent award, which everyone from New Hampshire completely understood. Jen indicates that everyone was very understanding and that Julia is as determined as ever!

Just returned from Julia's first preliminary night. She looked absolutely gorgeous and was shining on stage! She participated in On-Stage question where she was asked about preventing teen smoking and drinking. She did a wonderful job answering the question and sounded very confident! She also competed in Sportswear and looked like the true ballerina she is.

Tonight's preliminary winners were:

Sportswear - Miss Wisconsin
Talent - Miss Louisiana (Ballet on Pointe)
Evening Wear - Miss Pennsylvania

Julia is having the time of her life, enjoying every moment. She is very positive about everything. She performs her talent tomorrow evening.

Hi folks,

I just got a call from Jennifer Blanchard from Orlando. She was very excited! Julia is having the time of her life and her parents are very happy. Julia's interview went very well today. And from what Jennifer described, it sounds like she nailed the ending. A judge asked her a question about racial profiling, but then the timekeeper called time. Instead of going into a canned ending she said something like, "If you don't mind I would like to take this time to answer the last question" and then she told of an incident of a mentor's son being profiled at an airport!

Jen said her interview suit and gown are both drop dead gorgeous AND age appropriate. Congratulations Steph on doing a great job helping her shop!!

Hi Everyone,

I talked with Julia's Mom this afternoon. They did a Tony Bowls dress shoot last night, orientation and had a party where the girls danced until 10:30 p.m. Julia's roommate, Miss Georgia's Outstanding Teen, is very nice. Mom and Dad helped Julia move into the room. The girls left for the auditorium for rehersal at 7 a.m. this morning. Mom and Dad have left the hotel for their friends' house until Sunday or Monday when they go back to check ito the Rosen Centre. Julia's Mom was very positive and upbeat. I'll keep you posted.

Julia left for Orlando at 6:30 a.m. Thursday morning. Her mother, Kathleen, her father, Rick and her brother, Patrick. A large group of well-wishers greeted Julia at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport to send her off.

Julia’s mom phoned in a report to Outstanding Teen Chair, Stephanie Mills. Mom and Dad helped with her move in at the Rosen Center where she met her roommate, Miss George’s Outstanding Teen. Julia reports that she is very nice!

Julia had an exciting afternoon which included a dress shoot where the contestants wore creations from formal-wear designer, Tony Bowls. The family attended orientation with Julia and then they were off to the Welcome party where the girls danced until 10:30 p.m. that night.
